In light of this anticipated growth, a new opportunity has arisen for a Director of Operations to lead the day-to-day management of development projects, ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-value schemes. Working closely with the CEO, Finance Director, and Construction Director, the appointed individual will oversee all aspects of the development process, from initial conception through to the handover of completed projects. This is a critical leadership role, with the potential to make a significant impact on the business as it expands its operations over the next five years.
The Director of Operations will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of projects, steering them through every phase including business development, design, planning, legal coordination, procurement, and contractual and funding arrangements. Additionally, they will oversee project management during the construction phase and ensure robust client aftercare once projects are completed. As the main point of contact for clients, the Director of Operations will chair complex meetings, negotiate key terms, and resolve any issues that may arise, ensuring transparency and best value for all parties involved.
This role requires a highly experienced individual with a proven track record in public sector procurement, property development, and commercial building planning. The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of construction, procurement delivery, and contracts, and will have significant experience of development funding. Experience with property law, contract law, landlord and tenant matters, and development agreements is also essential. Candidates with a professional qualification, such as Chartered Surveyor (RICS) or equivalent, will be at an advantage, although this is not a strict requirement.
In addition to technical expertise, the appointed Director of Operations must be a strategic thinker with a strong vision for business growth and market development. They will be responsible for leading a team of experienced professionals, ensuring the highest standards are maintained throughout the organisation. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including public sector partners, commercial clients, and internal teams, will be critical to success in this role.
