Sales Engineer

Engineering maintenance and manufacturing solutions

Lead a team to build customer relationships and grow a business with huge potential

Teeside / Yorkshire

Competitive salary and benefits

Our client is an award-winning manufacturer of industrial consumables, machine manufacturer, and sharpening service provider, with a heritage dating back almost two hundred years. As part of significant growth plans, they have recently acquired a specialist engineering business based in Teesside and are forecasting substantial growth opportunities, with turnover expected to quadruple in the next couple of years. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and experienced professional to play a key role in the development of this new acquisition.

The company operates in two main areas: granulating and pulverising equipment for the plastics industry, and engineering maintenance and refurbishment for the quarrying and cement sectors. This dual focus provides a solid platform for growth, and the right candidate will play a leading role in shaping the company’s future.

Reporting to the group leadership team, you will initially focus on building relationships with around 20 - 30 key customers, securing their business. Once these relationships are firmly established, you will take the lead in devising and implementing a strategic plan to expand the customer base, identifying and targeting new opportunities with both large corporates and SMEs. This will include working closely with the group’s marketing team to deliver tailored campaigns. As the senior employee at the Teesside site, you will also oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless delivery of projects while maintaining the company’s reputation for innovative, high-quality engineering solutions.

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in engineering maintenance and manufacturing techniques, with the ability to assess and improve machinery and develop bespoke components to meet customer needs. You will also need to demonstrate a proven track record of selling to senior engineering and purchasing professionals, as well as SME owner-managers, building trusted relationships and delivering solutions that offer maximum value for customers. The ability to manage suppliers effectively, ensuring competitive terms and excellent quality, will be key, as will a hands-on approach to project delivery, from quoting and purchasing to managing outsourcing and working closely with the factory team.

This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact within a small but ambitious business. It will appeal to a driven, commercially minded individual with a passion for engineering and the skills to lead a business through rapid growth. You will need to be highly numerate, energetic, and collaborative, and above all, you will embody the core values of passion, investment in people and technology, customer focus, quality, and integrity.

The role offers a competitive salary with benefits, including a car allowance, company pension scheme and life assurance. While the position is based at the Teesside facility, there will be extensive travel to customers as well as to other sites within the group. For the right candidate, this is a chance to shape the future of a business with huge potential while enjoying significant personal and professional growth within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

If you would like to be considered for this opportunity, Adderleys Executive Search invites you to submit your curriculum vitae in absolute confidence for consideration in the first stage of the interview process.
